Treasure Cay is a planned residential community on the mainland of Great Abaco, in the Bahamas' Abaco Islands. It's not a separate cay despite the name — it's connected to Great Abaco by road, about a 25–30 minute drive from Marsh Harbour, the region's commercial hub.

The beach

Treasure Cay Beach is a 3.5-mile stretch of powdery white sand, regularly ranked among the best beaches in the world by outlets like Conde Nast Traveler. It's the community's biggest draw for both residents and visitors, with soft, gently sloping sand and shallow, calm water on most of its length.

Getting there

Treasure Cay has its own airport (TCB) mainly host to private charter connections from Florida or the Eastern seaboard of the USA. For those flying commercially from the U.S., the more common route is through Marsh Harbour Airport (MHH), followed by a short drive or ferry connection.

Housing types

• Canal-front homes and lots, mostly in the Galleon Bay and Brigantine Bay areas, with private docks and direct boat access to the Sea of Abaco — popular with boating owners
• Beachfront and near-beach homes, concentrated along Ocean Boulevard, Windward Beach Road and      The      Point
• Inland residential lots and homes, generally lower-priced entry points into the community

Who lives here

Treasure Cay has a mix of year-round Bahamian and expat residents, seasonal ("snowbird") owners who come for the winter months, and a meaningful share of vacation-rental investment properties, since the beach and canal access make it a strong rental market.

Rebuilding since Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian (2019) caused significant damage across Abaco, including in Treasure Cay. Since then, rebuilding has been steady — canal-front lots have seen strong demand from buyers who prefer to construct new to current hurricane-resistant codes rather than renovate older stock. Turn-key, move-in-ready homes remain comparatively scarce, which has kept their prices firm.

Is Treasure Cay a good fit for you?

It suits buyers who want:

• A quieter, more residential feel than Marsh Harbour
• Direct beach or boating access
• A community with basic day-to-day amenities without big-city infrastructure

It's less suited to buyers who want nightlife, extensive shopping, or major medical facilities close by — for those, Marsh Harbour or Nassau are better bases.
